Julien ISSARTEL is an investigator in ecophysiology of aquatic ectotherms (vertebrates and invertebrates). He studies a variety of physiological mechanisms performed by aquatic animals when facing natural or anthropic constraints such as extreme temperatures, anoxia and metals (publications in integrative physiology, ecotoxicology and general ecology/science peer-reviewed journals). In 2010, he got a MCF position at the Mediterranean Institute of Biodiversity and Ecology (IMBE; Aix-Marseille University). Julien Issartel’s work is now focused on the impact of xenobiotic (nanoparticles, metals…) on essential physiological processes of aquatic ectotherms such as oxidative balance, energetic metabolism and osmoregulation.
