Biosketch

Post-doctoral researcher of the IMBE team 6 - Biomarkers, Environment, Health (BES), my research topics are focused on the impact that nanomaterials (NM) and nanoparticles (NP) dispersed in the environment have on human health.

The core of my studies is on DNA damage analysis (fragmentation, chromosome loss, mutagenesis, ...) that can potentially derive from occupational or accidental exposure to NMs and NPs, as well as on the mechanisms that induce genotoxicity (oxidative stress, internalization, apoptosis and necrosis, inflammation, ...).
I am also interested in the analysis of the physico-chemical properties of NMs and NPs throughout their entire life cycle, and on how these modification can affectNM and NP toxic potential.
I have also good skills in cytotoxicity and carcinogenesis, in microscopy and cytometry studies, using in vitro (2D and 3D) and ex vivo models.
I have worked with different types of NM and NP of atmospheric origin, or used as food and paints additives, or displaying antimicrobial and antifungal properties, or derived from thermonuclear fusion reactors.

Currently I am working on the development of a new in vitro mutagenesis test applicable to NP and aimed at monitoring and evaluating iatrogenic, occupational or environmental exposures.

I acquired my technical and scientific skills during my international mobility in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and France.

Member of the administration board of the French Society of Genetic Toxicology
