Behind its impressive colour lies a very specific strategy: the flower gives off the smell of decomposing meat to attract necrophagous insects, which are essential for pollination.<\/p><p>Even more surprising, this plant is one of the rare species capable of producing heat: its inflorescence can reach up to 4\u00b0C above the ambient temperature, reinforcing its power of attraction.<\/p><p>\ud83d\udc43 A unique sensory experience to see... and smell!<\/p><p>To enable as many people as possible to observe (and sniff!) this remarkable specimen, the east gate of the garden (on the Ponte and Rouard amphitheatre side) will be exceptionally open on 28 and 29 May.<\/p><p>Make the most of it, nature can't wait!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>L\u2019une des plus grandes inflorescences du bassin m\u00e9diterran\u00e9en est actuellement en fleur au jardin botanique de Saint-J\u00e9r\u00f4me (pr\u00e8s du portail c\u00f4t\u00e9 amphis Ponte et Rouard \u2013 suivez la fl\u00e8che).
