As part of the Endoume Wednesdays lectures for the general public, St\u00e9phane Viollet<\/strong>CNRS research director, head of the Biorobotics team and deputy director of the Institut des sciences du mouvement at Aix-Marseille University, will be giving a talk entitled \"From ant navigation to robot navigation\". in person at the Endoume Marine Station or at https:\/\/tv.imbe.fr\/les-mercredis-dendoume<\/strong><\/p>\n

Summary of the conference:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The biorobotic approach is a meeting point between robotics and neuroscience in an attempt to explain the behaviour of animals, in particular winged insects (flies, bees, wasps, etc.), by modelling the information processing used in these unusual animals. Our robots are a kind of embodiment of this insect-based knowledge to validate our models. Recent studies in our laboratory have focused on ant-inspired navigation strategies using a celestial compass. But could future robotic applications take great advantage of the polarisation of sky light? Several bio-inspired visual sensors, as well as bio-inspired robots, will be presented in this talk.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
