En effet, cette plante sous-marine \u00e9met une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de COVB, comparables \u00e0 ceux des plantes terrestres et qui pourraient avoir des r\u00f4les de d\u00e9fense face aux stress environnementaux. De plus, ces compos\u00e9s pourraient potentiellement contribuer au processus atmosph\u00e9riques de la r\u00e9gion m\u00e9diterran\u00e9enne.\nParmi les 105 compos\u00e9s identifi\u00e9s figurent notamment l&#8217;isopr\u00e8ne, le dim\u00e9thylsulfure (DMS) ou encore l&#8217;ac\u00e9tone. La plupart de ces \u00e9missions suivent un cycle diurne, \u00e0 l&#8217;exception du DMS, dont les \u00e9missions sont plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es la nuit. Bien que non toxiques directement, ces compos\u00e9s peuvent interagir dans l&#8217;atmosph\u00e8re avec d&#8217;autres substances et participer \u00e0 la formation d&#8217;ozone ou de particules fines, influen\u00e7ant ainsi la qualit\u00e9 de l&#8217;air. Ces r\u00e9sultats soulignent donc l&#8217;importance d&#8217;inclure les milieux benthiques (comme les herbiers marins) dans les mod\u00e8les de pollution atmosph\u00e9rique r\u00e9gionaux et globaux, encore trop centr\u00e9s sur les sources terrestres.
