Scientific management

From 2018 The IMBE was structured into seven major teams

Seven teams

1 Palaeo-environments and macro-ecological processes (PPM)
2 Origin and evolution of biodiversity (OEB)
3 Ecological vulnerability and conservation (VEC)
4 Natural and cultural heritage restoration engineering (IRPNC)
5 Molecule diversity and functioning in ecosystems (DFME)
6 Biomarkers, environment and health (BEH)
7 Environmental biotechnology and chemometrics for biodiversity promotion (BEC)

To promote the emergence of global ecology, scientific exchanges and research work will be mobilised within the unifying specialisms that will overlap with the problems studied by several teams.

Ten unifying themes have been identified

  • Socio-ecological systems in the Mediterranean and Asia: the past, present and future
  • Dynamics and stability of ecological systems in the face of global changes
  • Climate, global change, adaptation and resilience of living organisms
  • Environmental restorative sciences
  • Landscapes, biological continuities and biotic interactions
  • From naturalistic knowledge to functional and evolutionary mechanisms (and vice versa)
  • Agriculture / biodiversity interactions over time
  • Anthropocene, environment and health
  • Types and contribution of bio-monitoring
  • Naturality and biodiversity: from perception to management

Identifying clusters (Poles)

Beyond the scientific organization and structuring of the unit in terms of research support, "Identifying clusters” are set up.

Pole “Expertise and knowledge transfer» (ExTra)
Pole “Biodiversity of French Overseas Tropical Islands”
Pole “Marine Biology and Ecology”
Pole “Reproduction and environment”
