Ecosystems

I am developing skills in analytical chemistry and archaeology to address societal issues relating to the exploitation of the environment and craft techniques in recent prehistory. I have studied ceramics from the late Neolithic and early Bronze Age on the Atlantic coast in relation to the cultural transition, but also with the rise in sea level that is now impacting the balance of foreshore sites. I analysed the function of these vessels by identifying lipids in sherds that are rarely displayed in museums (GC-MS, GC-c-IRMS). I built my excavation and laboratory research around 3 bibliographical, analytical and experimental axes for the study of lipid preservation. One of the results of this work is the creation of a database of literature published in ORA, some of which is open to consultation: https://www.cepam.cnrs.fr/datas/ArOLD.php.

The contract that I am starting within the MAYACOSTA ANR is based on the characterisation of binders for the production of Maya mirrors (FTIR, Py/GC-MS, HPLC-MS) and the study of ancient ecosystems. The identification of the resins making up the glues will contribute to the reconstruction of the activity network and the past environment.
