Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology
Presentation
Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology are disciplines that study the effects of chemical substances on the environment and human health.
Toxicology focuses on the study of pollutants (in multiple mixtures, in low doses) and their cascading and delayed effects on human health and aquatic ecosystems.
Environmental pharmacology aims to assess the ecological risks associated with the use of medicines and other chemical products, to assess the quality of biological resources in the context of their human use, to develop biomarkers or bioindicators for ecological and human health, thereby helping to reduce exposure to pollution and to develop alternatives to pharmacological or cosmetological substances.
The Environmental Toxicology and Pharmacology Department (VSES) aims to facilitate access to the various techniques used by IMBE members, as well as external personnel, while providing the expertise and advice of the staff involved in defining, planning, budgeting, training (trainees, doctoral students - technical staff, teacher-researchers, researchers, etc.) and carrying out a project. The department offers assistance and training in the use of specific equipment and any associated software, in order to broaden users' skills and give them greater autonomy if necessary.
This technical and scientific platform is staffed by experts and equipped with a range of instruments and tools to carry out projects aimed at protecting human and environmental health.
