Global changes
Presentation
The thematic axis Global changes aims to assess the effects of global changes (climate change, pollution, invasive species, changes in land use) on biological and ecological systems. This work takes into account the depth of time required to understand the response and vulnerability of systems, as well as the spatial scales and local factors that can decouple the effects of global variations.
This area is divided into several Science Fronts:
- Past and present effects of climate change and changes in use. Identifying people's responses to communities.
- Local modulation of global changee. Assess the persistence and functioning of microenvironments at local gradients.
- Vulnerability and resilience to disturbance. Molecular mechanisms, population dynamics, community trajectories and biogeographical cycles.
- Pollution and ecosystem functioning. Identify pollution patterns and assess their influence on ecosystem functioning.
- Dynamics of biological invasions in the Mediterranean area and effects on biodiversity.
