Research
Organised around 5 thematic areas and 8 research teams
IMBE is a research unit developing an integrative and interdisciplinary approach to the problems of Biodiversity and Ecology. The major scientific questions studied by the IMBE are structured around 5 thematic areas :
- Biodiversity (describe biodiversity and how it is organised).
- Ecosystems (understanding how ecological systems function and characterising their spatial and temporal dynamics).
- Global change (assessing the effects of global change on biological and ecological systems).
- One Health (understanding the relationships between biodiversity, ecosystem functioning, global change and human health).
- Socio-ecological cohabitation (developing nature-based solutions for socio-ecological sustainability).
These thematic areas provide an appropriate scientific context for communication and scientific exchanges between the two groups. 8 research teams which are the functional elements of our research:
- The team PAHIS (Palaeoecology and Historical Ecology).
- The team BEEM (Molecular Biology, Evolution and Ecology).
- The team EECAR (Ecology, Ecotoxicology and Chemistry applied to Agroecology and Restoration).
- The team POPCO (People, Landscapes, Communities & Conservation).
- The team EcoSoM (Functional ecology: from socio-ecological systems to molecules).
- The team HEALTH (SANté et Toxicologie EnvironnementaleS).
- The team CHIPS (CHImiometry, experimental design, expert systems).
- The team NEMO (Nature, Marine Ecology and Ocean).
