The Mediterranean Institute of Biodiversity and Marine and Continental Ecology
IMBE's research is structured around 5 transversal thematic axis and 8 research teams
IMBE organizes its operational facilities around 5 technical departments
Training is, of course, the courses offered at the University (L, M, D) but also training through research (internships).
The dissemination of our scientific results is at the heart of our mission: it enables us to share and make research advances accessible to a wider audience. In addition to publications in specialist journals, the IMBE deploys a wide range of resources to popularise knowledge and make it understandable and attractive to a wide range of audiences. Through concrete actions and innovative tools, we are committed to bringing science closer to everyone, in order to establish an ongoing dialogue between science, research and the general public, especially young people.
My academic and professional training includes biology, oceanography and professional diving. I've been passionate about marine environments since my very first dive, when I discovered the diversity of landscapes and species in the oceans. I'm driven by the study and preservation of endangered marine organisms and their ecosystems.
This passion for the oceans led me to join several oceanographic campaigns, including a marine geology campaign with Ghent University, a marine biochemistry campaign with RBINS and a fish acoustic campaign in the North Sea with VLIZ.
My master's thesis explored the isotopic variability of a tropical fish assemblage living in marine meadows of the Great Reef of Toliara (Madagascar).
In March 2024 I joined IMBE's NEMO team to work on the PoMMar project.
The aim of the PoMMar project is to study ecological assemblages present in Mediterranean harbour environments and their pathways of introduction, with a particular focus on non-indigenous species (NIS).
The specificity of this project relies on its dual approach, both historical with the study of the main shipping routes, and ecological with the study of the main assemblage composition using rapid assessment surveys (RAS) and DNA taxonomy.
