The aim of my research is to understand the effects that agricultural practices and climate change can have on biodiversity, including crop pests and their natural enemies, with a view to proposing ways of managing Mediterranean agro-ecosystems that are compatible with the future climate and with healthy, sustainable food production. My work is based as much on the study of communities, whether arthropods or birds, as on physiological and behavioural approaches at the individual level, and aims in particular to develop relevant bioindicators and biomarkers to assess the effect of anthropogenic disturbances on biodiversity.

The "Silent spring in 2050" project, conducted in collaboration with Thomas Delattre and Françoise Lescourret from INRAE in Avignon and funded by the SFR Tersys, aims to develop acoustic bioindicators of the state of health of agroecosystems. With our doctoral student Raphael Minguet, we are studying the effect of agricultural practices on bird communities in apple orchards by developing an approach based on passive acoustic monitoring and deep-learning.
