"Specialised metabolites of benthic marine Magnoliophytes : Plant specialised metabolites (PSM) volatile and non-volatile

Thesis directed by Catherine Fernandez and co-directed by Elena Ormeno (Aix Marseille University, IMBE - UMR 7263).

Context

Specialised metabolites are molecules produced in particular by plants (PSM) that are involved in interactions within and between species and between species and their environment. All these SMPs are very well documented in terrestrial environments, but less well studied in marine environments, and very little is known about the VOCB emissions from these ecosystems. What's more, their role in the functioning of marine ecosystems remains to be explored. The aim of my thesis project is to increase our knowledge of SMPs and in particular the VOCBs emitted in emblematic marine ecosystems: Mediterranean Magnoliophyte meadows.
