Secondary school students at the heart of scientific research

Shahinaz GHANDI and Calli PAUL at the prize-giving ceremony on 28 May 2025 at the Apprentice Researchers Congress

Since 2004, the Research apprentices enables secondary school students to immerse themselves in the world of scientific research by working alongside professionals, directly in laboratories. It's a unique opportunity to discover the scientific process, learn about research and expand your knowledge.

This year, Shahinaz GHANDIa 3rd year student at Collège Joséphine Baker, was welcomed to theIMBEwithin the teams BEEM and HEALTH. It was supervised by Calli PAULa second-year doctoral student, as part of her thesis on the ANR LiCOCO - Living with chlordecone: opportunity-based co-construction.

Over a period of several months, Shahinaz discovered the issues surrounding chlordecone pollution and how scientific research can contribute to solutions that are jointly developed with the people concerned. She gave a brilliant presentation of her work and that of her supervisor at the Apprentice Researchers Conferencethe 28 May 2025.

It's a fine illustration of the transmission of knowledge, scientific commitment and the opening up of future vocations!
