As part of the Endoume Wednesdays public lectures series, Thierry Pérez and Pierre Chevaldonné, CNRS Research Directors at the IMBE, will be giving a talk entitled “ Naturalist exploration of the ocean: an Endoumois tradition!“The course can be taken face-to-face at the Endoume Marine Station or online. direct.
Summary of the conference:
For several decades, researchers at the Endoume Marine Station have been exploring the ocean and marine biodiversity. The people of Endoume have described almost 2,000 species, a long-term, multi-generational naturalist activity that also serves to measure the impact of environmental change and define strategies for conserving marine ecosystems. Our speakers could not conceive of their profession without a significant exploration component, but by showing what the steps (administrative, logistical, human and scientific) were for a few examples of oceanographic campaigns over the last 15 years, they will also show us that this activity requires a great deal of motivation.
