L'Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts of Marseille, an institution founded in the XVIIᵉ century and dedicated to promoting knowledge, culture and research in our region, is organising its traditional annual awards ceremony.
Each year, the Académie honours authors, historians, artists, scientists, committed associations and deserving young students. This year's awards will once again honour the personalities and initiatives that contribute to Marseille's reputation. Among the major distinctions awarded this year, the Prix du Duc de Villars will be awarded to Jean Vacelet, Emeritus CNRS Research Director at the Endoume Marine Station (IMBE) NEMO team), for the excellence of its work on marine sponges and Mediterranean biodiversity.
