From the right of the tree to the rights of the tree

As urban trees face increasing pressures from land sealing, fires and development, an emerging question arises: Can we grant them rights in order to protect them more effectively?
Le 17 September in Marseille, Victor David, a researcher in environmental law at the IRD and a member of the IMBE, will shed light on the the law governing trees in France, before exploring the concept of’natural and legal persons and the recognition of Nature as a legal person.
