15 years of IMBE: at the heart of life
Fifteen years. Fifteen years that the IMBE has been exploring, deciphering and protecting life in all its forms. Since 2012, we've been accumulating discoveries, protocols and data; field notebooks have been filling up, and our workbenches have been bursting at the seams.
To celebrate this anniversary in 2027, we invite you to take a different look at what unites us. Not simply to document our activities, but to reveal their poetry, or simply their beauty.
More than just a competition, it's a project for everyone! Through this photographic project, we propose to sketch out a sensitive memory of our laboratory: an iconographic collection that would bear witness to our shared identity, but also to constitute the visual heritage of our institute for years to come.
Quite simply, to get our heads out of our spreadsheets and protocols and capture the poetry of a gesture, the power of a landscape or the fragility of a species. Enhancing the light and shade of our professions. Strengthening our ties by sharing our unique visions.
Three horizons for your gaze
We invite you to explore three dimensions of our daily lives through 3 categories, with no limit other than your emotions (up to 20 shots per theme):
The otherness of living things. From microscope to telephoto lens, let's show the fauna, flora and ecosystems that we study with passion. Tissues or organisms in their environment, your photos celebrate all the facets of living things.
The IMBE out-of-home adventure. Let's capture the spirit of our expeditions and missions, the effort, the solidarity, the taste for adventure and our wonder at the landscapes and ecosystems we travel through.
The human touch and expertise. The intimacy of the gesture. Let's pay tribute to the life of our laboratories. The light of a culture room, the concentration of a manipulation, the beauty of an instrument or the passion of an exchange between colleagues.
The Jury...us
This competition is a collective effort in which every member of the Institute becomes a player. The process will begin with an internal vote: together we will choose the photos that touch us, make us laugh or impress us. Far from focusing on technical performance, we'll be looking first and foremost for the accuracy of the testimony.
Adding value across the board
The best photographs, selected by you, will travel with you: they will become a travelling exhibition, while permanent exhibitions will transform the places where we live and work. Finally, because every view counts, all the contributions will be preserved in a unique collection of images. This visual heritage will enable us to enhance our identity and to tell the story of our laboratory in different formats for a long time to come (books and digital gallery).
