We are delighted to announce that Meryem Aakairi, a doctoral student attached to the’IMBE, is one of the 34 young scientists rewarded by the 19ᵉ Prix Jeunes Talents France L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science.
Selected from nearly 700 candidates, These doctoral and post-doctoral students were chosen by a jury of more than 30 members of the’Academy of Sciences, chaired by Professor Françoise Combes. This award honours young female researchers whose promising research is essential if we are to meet tomorrow's scientific challenges and pass on their passion to the next generation of researchers.
Meryem Aakairi receives award for her work on the promoting ancestral knowledge for an inclusive science, a field at the crossroads of biodiversity and society. Her career is a perfect illustration of the scientific excellence and social commitment that IMBE supports.
The awards ceremony took place 8 October 2025 in Paris. Thanks to this prize, the 34 Young Talents will join one of the largest communities of women scientists in the world, with more than 4,700 female researchers from over 140 countries.
