  • This event has passed.

20 May 2026 @ 8.00 am - 21 May 2026 @ 17h00

On 20 May 2026 at the Pharo in Marseille, as part of the UNESCO Chair in «Education for environmental transition in the Mediterranean», Victor David, an IRD research fellow at IMBE, will present his work on the legal recognition of living organisms.

His research focuses on a powerful idea: recognising certain species and ecosystems as legal entities in order to protect them more effectively. He will talk about his work in New Caledonia and his commitment to recognising the Mediterranean Sea as a legal entity.

A speech that invites us to rethink our relationship with living things and opens up new prospects for protecting them.
